Pleasantville Cottage 

I volunteer up to two to three times a month at Pleasantville Cottage, located in Scarsdale, NY. Pleasantville Cottage School is home to boys and girls, ages 7-16. I work with the same group of girls who live in one of the cottages and have built meaningful relationships with all of them. I help teach the girls how to navigate their feelings in different situations, using art as a way to express themselves (specifically in a journal provided for each of them). The girls are given prompts reflecting content we view in different movies, books, songs, and art, and are asked to write responses in their journals. I complete the activities as well, and when I visit, we have a significant time sharing our responses.
