My name is Olivia Sorrel, and I attend Riverdale Country School in the Bronx, NY. Creativity is at the center of my life, whether I’m reading, writing, or taking photographs. For many years now, I have written in my journal every night, which helps me navigate the stress of being a teenage girl balancing school, friends, and personal life. Outside of the classroom, I love to spend my personal time playing tennis, baking, going on runs, reading new books, and spending time with my dog. I also love to spend my time volunteering with various organizations, such as my daily visits to ABC, a journaling group I lead at Pleasantville Cottage, and various other opportunities through JCAA. I am deeply committed to improving my high school community. I strive to achieve this by taking on various leadership roles, including co-piloting two service learning clubs and leading a pen-pal program I founded, which involves connecting middle schoolers from Riverdale with peers from across the globe at the Afak Foundation in Morocco. Looking ahead, my hope is to combine my own creativity with service opportunities to build spaces where storytelling, literature, and reflection become universal tools of connection.
