My name is Olivia Sorrel, and I attend Riverdale Country School in the Bronx, NY. Creativity is at the center of my life, whether I’m reading, writing, or taking photographs. For many years, I have written in my journal every night, which helps me navigate the stress of being a teenage girl balancing school, friends, and my personal life. Outside of the classroom, I love spending my personal time playing tennis, baking, reading new books, and spending time with my dog. I also love volunteering with various organizations, including my daily visits to ABC, a journaling group I lead at Pleasantville Cottage, and other opportunities through JCAA. I am deeply committed to improving my high school community. I strive to do this by taking on leadership roles, including co-piloting two service-learning clubs and leading a pen-pal program I founded that connects middle schoolers from Riverdale with peers around the world at the Afak Foundation in Morocco. Looking ahead, I hope to combine my creativity with service opportunities to build spaces where storytelling, literature, and reflection become universal tools for connection.
